Police appeal for crash witnesses
Lincolnshire Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash that left two drivers seriously injured.
Police want the driver of a car transporter who stopped at the scene of the collision on the A17 near Leadenham at about 6.55am on Tuesday to contact them.
A 65-year-old man, who is from West Yorkshire, was freed by firefighters after being trapped for 50 minutes in a white Vauxhall Combo van. He was taken to Lincoln County Hospital with serious injuries.
The van is believed to have been involved in a head-on collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter van.
The Mercedes driver, a man from Sheffield, was taken to Lincoln County with serious injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
The road re-opened at about 11.15am on Tuesday.
Sergeant Andy Roach said: "This was a busy time of morning on a major route in and out of the county. I am sure there are witnesses who we have not yet traced.
"One example is the driver of a car transporter who stopped at the scene. Unfortunately, we do not have his details and I would urge him to contact us.
"Hopefully he will have useful information which will help us to establish what caused the crash."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sergeant Roach via the Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855.
