Police appeal for information following reports of a firearm in Barnby Gate




Police are appealing for information following reports of a fight in Newark.

Newark Police received a call just before 9pm on Saturday of a fight involving two men in Barnby Gate. It was reported one of the men had a gun.

Around 10 minutes later a member of the public reported that a man had left a gun at a property in Oliver Close.

A 23-year-old man was arrested by officers on suspicion of possession an imitation firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence. He was released under investigation.

The police are asking anyone who saw two men arguing in Barnby Gate at around 9pm on Saturday and has any information which could help officers with their enquiries to call 101 quoting incident number 897 of 28 October 2018.

Anyone with any information relating to the use or possession of firearms in Nottinghamshire is urged to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
