Police dogs need new homes
Nottinghamshire Police’s Dog Section is looking for loving homes for five puppies from the force’s in-house dog breeding programme.
They come from the sixth litter to be produced by the scheme, which was set up in 2006 to reduce the cost of the force having to purchase dogs from specialist breeders.
The puppies are pedigree German Shepherds from working line European imported stock.
Pc Geoff Tordoff said: "Because of the success of the breeding programme, we can’t keep every dog that is born.
“The available puppies are all girls and are almost eight weeks old now.
"We’re keen to make sure they go to good homes, and want to hear from anyone who thinks they could give them the love and attention they need.
“Unfortunately, we can’t give them away as we have to cover the cost of the breeding programme.
"Each puppy will cost £500, but they will all be Kennel Club registered and will have had their first inoculations.
“Just like the RSPCA, we will be carrying out suitability checks on anyone interested in taking one of the puppies.”
