Inspector Tim Cuthbert from Nottinghamshire Police advises residents of recent developments regarding crime and anti-social behaviour
A police leader has addressed the community about some recent developments including the Crime and Anti-social behaviour Summit that occurred in Bingham last month.
“I attended the Crime and Anti-social behaviour Summit in Bingham in February, which was a great opportunity to speak to the public about on-going concerns locally,” said Inspector Tim Cuthbert, the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Rushcliffe on his blog.
“Thanks to the Police and Crime Commissioner for supporting the event, and MP for Newark Robert Jenrick who set up the meeting.
“We’ve seen the first few weeks of the new youth club in East Leake which is being really well attended.
“Also recently, our West Bridgford beat team have been involved in Safer Business Action month with events around crime prevention, enforcement and engagement focusing on the West Bridgford town centre.
“I’d like to welcome Sergeant Che Sands and Police Constable Matt Wilkinson to the Neighbourhoods team at Bridgford, with both officers bringing a wealth of policing experience to the area in support of our on-going efforts to tackle crime.
“They both bring experience tackling anti-social behaviour and will grow our police officer numbers on the neighborhood policing teams too.
“Our latest quarterly priorities have been formulated after discussion with our partners at Rushcliffe Borough Council, and they are as follows, the theft of bikes and motorbikes in Rushcliffe North area, shop theft and policing car cruising around Ratcliffe on Soar.
“Theft of bikes and motorbikes has risen slightly this last quarter, and I want to reassure people we’re taking additional measures to prevent and detect these offences.
“I’d encourage you to consider attending one of our regular bike marking events, and we’ll be working with businesses too around hot spots, whilst also conducting patrols in areas where offences are happening.
“Only this week, officers from our Op Reacher team recovered four stolen motorbikes at an address, and working with colleagues from response and the neighborhood policing team, they detained three people who are now on Police bail pending enquiries.
“Shop theft is an on-going concern both locally and nationally, and despite us seeing a considerable drop in offences in recent months, I’d like to continue the focus on those offences to bring them down further.
“Car Cruising has risen slightly in recent weeks, and we’ll be working with colleagues in Notts County Council, and Rushcliffe Borough Council to try to find long term solutions to this persistently anti-social practice.
“The CCTV consultation for the Safer Streets funded project in Bingham has now closed, so thanks to those who took the time to feedback on the plans, and I hope to be able to report on the system being up and fully operational by the summer, and I’m sure it’ll have a very positive impact locally thanks to the OPCC funding.
“This month, we’ll see a significant amount of work being conducted by Highways on the A52 around Radcliffe on Trent.
“There will no doubt be some local disruption with these overnight works, however I thank you in advance for your understanding, as the works are desperately needed on the road surface and surrounding infrastructure.
“Police Officers will be supporting the road-works with additional officer presence to ensure the works go ahead as smoothly and safely as possible.
“The Highways teams will operate between 8pm-6am, Monday to Friday inclusive, between 11th March, and 29th March.
“I know from recent meetings that there are concerns locally about the works, so I hope the Police presence will go some way to alleviate those concerns.”
