Police name crash victim

Lincolnshire Police have named a pensioner who died in a road accident as Mrs Mary Allport, 79, of Granby Drive, Balderton.

Emergency services were called to the A156 at Marton, Lincolnshire, at about 5.45pm on Sunday, where a silver Chevrolet Matiz was involved in a head-on collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa.

The driver of the Corsa, understood to be Mrs Allport’s 78-year-old husband, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital with serious injuries.

Passenger

Mrs Allport was taken by air ambulance to the Northern General Hospital at Sheffield in critical condition but later died.

The driver of the Matiz, a 51-year-old woman, and her front seat passenger, a 46-year-old woman, both from Gainsborough, were taken to Lincoln County Hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the accident and saw the cars to call 01522 558855.
