Several reported for illegal fishing on River Trent between Farndon and Gunthorpe

Several people have been reported for illegal fishing following an evening of action by the police and Environment Agency.

Officers were patrolling the River Trent between Farndon and Gunthorpe when they reported a number of people for Theft of Fishing Rights.

Police said every year rivers were subject to illegal fishing, anti-social behaviour and other wildlife offences — which has a detrimental effect on the local area.

Working with partner agencies, police hope to tackle these issues and offer reassurance to the public reporting such incidents to the Environment Agency and police.
