Police want to speak to this woman concerning the theft of a laptop
Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) have released an image of a woman they want to speak to after a laptop was taken from Newark Northgate station.
PC Jacqui Wadey, the investigating officer, said: “At around 5.25pm on Friday, 31 January, a 32-year-old man from Lincoln placed his laptop on top of a ticket machine on the concourse at the Newark Northgate station while he purchased his ticket.
He then rushed to get his train and left his laptop on top of the machine.
“A short while later a man went to purchase a ticket and noticed the laptop. He picked it and, after seeing a woman standing nearby, asked her if she had left it and if it was her laptop. The woman confirmed it was, took the laptop and put it in her bag before quickly disappearing.
PC Wadey said: “After reviewing CCTV we believe the woman pictured, who travelled from Lincoln and who was smoking whilst waiting outside near the ticket machine, may be able to help us with our enquiries into this crime and I would ask anyone who recognises her, or knows her current whereabouts, to please get in touch.
“We would also like to hear from you if you have been offered a laptop in unusual circumstances in the Newark or Lincoln area.”
