Nottinghamshire ratepayers will pay £55,622,424 to Nottinghamshire Police in 2012-13, if the increase is approved by the police authority on Wednesday of next week.

This means Band D properties will pay £166.41 for their policing, an increase of 3.93%.

The force says it will need £191,317,928 net for 2012-13, with a reduced grant coming from central government.

It says the increase in precept will be pay for 56 extra community support officers.

A proposed rise of 4% or more would have triggered a referendum with the people of Nottinghamshire asked by government for their views, which is why, the police authority agenda states, the requested rise is 3.93%.
