Poll: Should Newark still have a cattlemarket?
Farmers say they're being overlooked and forgotten ten months after their livestock market shut, resulting in them having to travel further and adding to already long days.
There is an idea to relocate the cattlemarket to Newark Showground as part of the Newark Towns Bid, with a hotel potentially built in its place and the country’s first International Air and Space Institute (IASTI) on the neighbouring lorry park.
But while many other towns have had the levels of their funding announced by government, Newark is yet to be informed of the success of its bid.
In the meantime, farmers say they face uncertainty and their ability to get their animals to market is hampered, affecting their livelihoods.
