The Old Bakery Tea Rooms in Newark, Nottinghamshire changes hands as Glenda Casteloe takes the reins of the hospitality business
A popular eatery has changed hands – with the previous owner bowing out after running it for 20 years..
The Old Bakery Tea Rooms in Newark is now being run by Glenda Casteloe – who used to live in Newark and had previously dined at the Queen’s Head Court business.
“I have eaten in here a long time ago and I thought it was a beautiful building,” said Glenda.
“Most of my career I have worked in mental health and I wanted a complete change.
“I saw that this building and business was for sale and it was just perfect timing.
“It was something I really thought I wanted to try.
“I’ve never worked in the industry before and am lucky enough to have a great chef Ian Greatorex who I worked with in mental health years ago before he retrained as a chef.
“I really enjoy the customers and we really do try and cater to everybody with a diverse menu.
“We have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, we have made some changes from what the previous owners offered but it hasn’t changed massively.
“I kept the staff on and I could not have done this without Chloe and Dawn.
“They have really helped and I could not be doing this without them.
“We hope to see everyone in the near future.
“We are open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am until 4pm.
“Our afternoon teas are fantastic and that is our speciality.”
Glenda takes over from previous business owner Roberto Iorio.
