The first concert will be given by a wonderful pianist, Neil Crossland, who has played in the series before, to considerable acclaim. Neil’s concert will include his own arrangement of Night on the Bare Mountain (Mussorgski).

Dr Stephen Bullamore, the director of music at Newark Parish Church, said: “We have a fantastic series of concerts lined up for Newark. After Neil’s concert, we will be welcoming a fantastic singer, Chris Ebbern and then on June 10, Rosemary Field will be putting our magnificent pipe organ through its paces.”

As a special concert for the Bank Holiday, Roy Goodman and Ian Hare will be playing organ duets at 3pm.

Recitals run from 12pm to 12.45pm – ideal for a lunch break. Admission is free of charge; there is a retiring collection to cover costs. Refreshments are available from the church’s own coffee bar – do arrive in good time for teas, coffees and cake.

One favourite event of the main Saturday series is the Young Performers’ Platform, which will be on July 1.
