Royal Mail post problems in Nottinghamshire leaves frustrated Southwell resident without 'time critical' letters
A resident who has been waiting two weeks for 'time critical' letters has finally received his documents.
A Southwell resident, who did not want to be named, said his post — sent via Royal Mail — was two weeks late.
He told the Advertiser it was an issue for everybody on his road.
"Everybody has had the same thing," he said.
"The postman said that they had a new system in. The rounds are unbelievably bonkers.
"It's unbelievable."
He said he had expected three to four time critical letters in the two-week period.
Charmaine Fenton, of Newark, also had issues.
She said: "It appears that the postal delivery and service in Newark has changed and sadly for the worst.
"My post has been arriving much later as I understand the 'posties' now have to deliver to many more streets, in fact I saw one still delivering in Lime Grove at 5.30pm.
"My post now not only arrives much later but some days I receive nothing and then a few days later a batch of post.
"There is a hold-up.
"Today I received two hospital letters that had been delayed. It wouldn’t surprise me if we end up with deliveries every other day.
"It is such a shame as the service we had been receiving was great.
"I'm not sure how this will impact businesses."
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We apologise to customers for any delays they may have experienced in some parts of Nottinghamshire.
"In the local area, we are currently experiencing some resourcing issues which we are addressing as quickly as possible.
"We are working hard to resolve the situation and service levels are now improving.”
