About 150 protesters gathered at the gates of Staythorpe Power Station today.

A group of 20 jobless Glaswegians who travelled by coach to Staythorpe last night were among those who joined the protest.

UK workers say construction jobs at the new £660m gas-fired power station are going to foreign labour.

Unemployed shop steward Kevin Gough, of Christopher Crescent, Balderton, said: "We’re disappointed to still be having to come here but there’s no sign of Alstom opening the doors to UK labour."

Alstom denies discrimination in employment.
