Sir Donald Bailey Academy pre-school reopens
A Newark school has reopened its pre-school.
Sir Donald Bailey Academy pre-school, which closed two years ago due to a rent dispute, reopened last month.
Following a renegotiation of rent and demand for two-year-old places in the area, the pre-school was reopened.
The pre-school is open to children aged two and three years old.
Parents have the option of morning, afternoon or full day sessions.
Pre-school manager and foundation one leader, Miss Jessie English said it was great to see the unit in use.
“We have been excited to make use of such a bright, open space. The children are able to learn in a relaxed and caring environment through purposeful play.
"The sessions we offer include morning or afternoon sessions. We offer an additional option of a full day, which is well suited for working parents. We have 15-hour funded places and paid sessions to offer.”
At Sir Donald Bailey pre-school the morning sessions run from 9-12, the afternoon sessions run from 1-4, and the full day sessions run from 9-3.
The indoor provision and adult led activities are themed around the story of the week in order to encourage an early love for reading.
Room Leader Mrs Carla Osborne said: "We completed home visits to meet the children in their own environment a week before the start of term. This enabled us to get to know the children individually and for the children to get to know us.
"We had two weeks to prepare everything before the term started, but it's been fantastic being involved from the beginning.
"We have free flow provision, which means that the children will always have access to planned provision, indoors and outdoors.”
The pre-school have sessions available now and there is an open day on November 8 from 9.30am to 10.30am.
