Promotion for assistant chief constable
Nottinghamshire Police Authority has announced that Paul Scarrott is the new Deputy Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police.
The authority says the news comes following a two-day interview programme and a robust recruitment process which started in February.
Mr Scarrott joined the Nottinghamshire force when he was selected as Assistant Chief Constable in May 2010.
After the appointment was confirmed Mr Scarrott said: “I’m over the moon and as proud as punch."
"I feel very fortunate that I have been given this opportunity to continue the work that, with the help of my colleagues and partners, is delivering significant improvements in police performance.
"It’s a privilege to be Deputy Chief Constable for this tremendously hard-working police force, and I will do everything I can to make Nottinghamshire an even safer place to live, work or visit.”
Jon Collins, chairman of the police authority, said: “This appointment is very well deserved and will provide valuable continuity within the senior officer team.
"It’s important that we further develop the initiatives that have helped to cut crime and protect people over the past two years and Paul’s new role will help do just that."
Mr Collins added that it had been a tough decision as it had been a very strong field of candidates.
Mr Scarrott, who is married to a district nurse and has three teenage children, lives in Nottinghamshire.
Before joining Nottinghamshire Police in 2010, he served with West Midlands Police.
As Assistant Chief Constable, his portfolio included Demand Management, Response, Community Safety Partnerships and Offender Management.
