Reader's letter: Protect wildlife

I fully support Des Kay in his objection to houses on Lowfield Lane, Balderton.

Where is it that we have to protect the countryside and wildlife? Obviously not in Newark.

I saw a massacre when I drove to Farndon via Hawton recently. I was shocked, sickened and angry the hedges had gone, as had many trees that have taken years to grow.

And no thought has been given to the fact it is nesting time for birds.

How much more greenery are we to lose in and around Newark and Balderton to throw up new houses on? ­— M. S. CLARKE, Balderton.
