Crafts market at The Hearty Goodfellow in Southwell is to raise funds to Reach Learning Disability
A town’s pub is set to host it’s first-ever crafts market with the aim to support talent from the area and raise funds for charity.
The owners of The Hearty Goodfellow in Southwell, Tony Marriott and Emma Hopkins, decided to host a craft market using the pub’s garden space.
The market will take place on Saturday, April 12, from 12noon until 4pm and it will raise funds for Reach Learning Disability.
Southwell resident and a friend of the owners, Jade Hazard, has decided to support the owners with the idea and is managing the organisation of the charity event.
Jade said: “We want to support getting creative in the local community and to support a local charity whilst doing so. Reach provide support and activities in their centres such as cooking, art and gardening.
“To know that the funds raised from this event go towards helping build other people's skills and confidence, through a range of activities such as art is really something we're passionate about.”
When Emma first came up with the idea, she wanted to support creatives, makers and artists from the area, at a minimal expense to the stall holders.
Jade added: “We realise there's so much local talent and many creative people in Southwell.
“The market is at minimal cost to the stall holders, which means that they're given the opportunity to showcase their crafts, when they may not have otherwise had the opportunity.
“For a number of stall holders, this will be their very first craft event and we're so proud to be supporting new and upcoming businesses in the community.”
There will be over 15 stalls selling a variety of handmade items, from art and paintings, ceramics, and jewellery to children’s books, fused glass, wall art, cakes, jams and chutneys, wax melts and soaps.
The pub’s bar will also be open on the day for food and drinks.
