The annual Pub Walk for Parkinson’s, to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, sets off from Farnsfield Cricket Club
Imagine being able to have a stroll through the countryside with a few drinks, while raising money for an important charity.
The annual Pub Walk for Parkinson’s, organised by Bob Ratcliffe, will take place on Saturday March 7.
The event, created to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, will see participants set off from Farnsfield Cricket Club on a eight-mile walk.
There will be pitstops at the The Plough at Farnsfield, The Reindeer at Edingley, The Waggon at Halam, Norwood Park Golf Centre Clubhouse and The Final Whistle in Southwell, before finishing at the Hearty Goodfellow in Southwell.
Bob said: “It’s a great social event where people can go at their own pace and have a chat with friends, although if they have a drink in every pub on the route, they will be swaying by the end of it.”
Now in its tenth year, this year’s walk is labelled TARGET 200 because Bob is hoping at least 200 walkers will sign up to mark the event’s milestone.
Bob said: “When we started doing this walk we had only 37 taking part, and last year we had 157. It’s incredible how it’s grown over the years.”
Bob created the event in memory of his father, also called Bob, who died of Parkinson’s in 2010.
It is always held at the beginning of March to coincide with his father’s birthday.
Walkers can register at the cricket club from 10.30am on the day, and start setting off at 10.45am.
The entry fee is £15 per person, with £10 from each entry going directly to Parkinson’s UK.
Entry tickets can now also be bought at www.eventbrite.com/e/2020-pub-walk-for-parkinsons-tickets-89980994577 or by calling Bob on 07887 707496.
