Children 1st Day Nursery held a fundraising muddy puddle walk, inspired by Peppa Pig, on Thursday.
Little ones at a Newark nursery needed no persuading to get muddy for charity.
Children 1st Day Nursery, on Muskham Road, held a fundraising muddy puddle walk, inspired by popular children’s television programme Peppa Pig, in their grounds on Thursday to raise money for Save the Children.
As the weather was warm and sunny on the day, the nursery staff had to improvise and make their own muddy puddles on sheets of tarpaulin.
To fit with the nursery’s ethos of getting the children outdoors in all weathers, the staff also set up various activity stations, all with a Peppa Pig theme.
The little ones had a visit from their favourite pig as a member of staff pulled on the nursery’s Peppa Pig costume to dance with the children.
The first station was Miss Rabbit’s Florists where the children made flower arrangements, followed by Granny Pig’s Mud Kitchen where they were able to make mud pies.
Next was Madame Gazelle’s camp fire where the staff and children sang songs and played musical instruments as in the television show, and then it was a trip to Mr Bull’s digger factory where the children had a go on mini diggers.
Finally, the children all took part in a Peppa and Friends walk and race, finished off with more puddle jumping.
The event raised more than £220 for Save the Children, with more money still to be collected in.
Nursery manager Tracey Needham said: “Everyone really enjoyed it and we had lots of fun. We have a big emphasis on playing outdoors so it was a great event.”
