A total of 11 schools in the Advertiser area had 100% of pupils achieve the expected levels in national English and maths tests.

Results of the summer’s Key Stage Two National Curriculum tests for ten and 11 year-olds — Sats — have been released.

Youngsters are expected to achieve level four or above in the tests.

All Saints’ Primary School, Elston, had an extra reason to celebrate after being ranked second nationally in the tests.

Orston Primary School also made into the national top 50 at 31.

Mrs Lesley Molyneux, the head of All Saints, said: “It is fantastic news but I don’t think league tables are everything.

“Education is about more than the league tables, and the staff and pupils have worked hard.

“We try to make sure we treat each child as an individual.”

Across the county, primary school pupils achieved their best results in maths since 2006, with 86% reaching the expected level.

A total of 82% achieved the required level in both English and maths, compared with 77% in 2011, while 87% made the expected grade in English, up 4% on last year.

Nottinghamshire County Council committee chairman for children and young people’s services, Mr Philip Owen, said: “These figures are a credit to pupils, teachers and parents who support them.

“We have seen steady improvement over several years in Nottinghamshire and the county is now placed comfortably within the top third of all local authorities in England for primary education.”
