Students from Carnarvon School, Bingham, find spaceship believed to be linked with an alien invasion
Pupils at a Bingham school spent an exciting day investigating an alien landing in their school grounds.
About 90 youngsters from three classes arrived at Carnarvon School to find the crashed spaceship and its occupants.
The make-believe scenario was part of a school space project, and was the idea of trainee teachers Rosie Drabble and Chloe Treacy, who made all the models for the day, including a dismembered green hand, a silver spaceship, and a torso hidden in undergrowth.
Rosie Drabble said: “The year fives have been doing a space topic and we wanted to make it a little bit more exciting for them. They had a very hyper day.”
The children investigated the crash-landing, playing roles including police officers and reporters. They were joined by Police Community Support Officer Dave Wesson and Pc Caroline Voce, who helped with the investigation.
Rosie Drabble said the children would be using the experience to support their literary, science and design skills — as well as fuelling their imagination.
They will be thinking about the planet the aliens might have come from, and designing and building a rover buggy that could be used to explore it.
