Pupils in bus fall

Two year ten pupils from Dayncourt School, Radcliffe, fell through the window of a moving bus as it was taking them home on Friday.

The teenagers were on a Premiere Travel bus to Cotgrave. One was taken to hospital with minor injuries while the other was not hurt.

Brand manager for Premiere, Mr Jamie Swift, said there were reports of several children pushing against the window as it went round a corner at Stragglethorpe.

He also said the police had investigated the vehicle and after finding no faults had exonerated them of blame.

The school’s head, Mr Tim Mitchell, said he had written to parents about the incident and outlined guidance about how pupils should behave on buses.

He said: "That is not an indication in any way, shape or form that the accident was caused by pupils’ behaviour. I do not know what caused it, I wasn’t there and I only know what I saw when I arrived at the scene.

"We are absolutely delighted that no serious injuries were sustained."

Mr Mitchell said the police were investigating.
