Children at Highfields School, Newark, put together more than 50 boxes of gifts for Operation Christmas Child.

They were collected by Mr Mike Ward-Barrow, who has been involved with the project for more than ten years.

He said people had been as generous as ever in putting together the boxes, which are filled with toys, stationery and toiletries for children aged two to 14. Boxes have also been collected from Flintham Primary School, John Blow School, Collingham, and Chuter Ede and John Hunt primary schools, Balderton.

Mr Ward-Barrow said: “These boxes make all the difference to the children who receive them.”

The boxes will be delivered to Kosovo.

The main deadline has passed but boxes can still be taken to Shoe Zone stores until Monday.
