Holy Trinity Catholic Academy donate items to Emmaus Trust
Pupils raised awareness of homelessness by making their own shelters and creating care packs.
Holy Trinity Catholic Academy, Newark, have been donating items and raising money for local and international homeless causes.
A care pack has been created by the children, parents and staff at the school to donate to Newark Emmaus Trust.
The pack includes shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary towels, soap and other hygiene products.
Supermarket Asda has also made a care pack filled with food and water.
Holy Trinity pupil Antoni Misiak, 10, said: “Everyone has been really generous.”
To raise money for the victims of flash floods in the Papau region of Indonesia, year group councillors helped set up a homelessness awareness day.
This involved the children making their own shelters in the playground using cardboard boxes.
They lived in their handmade shelters for 30 minutes to try to gain an insight as to what it is like to be homeless.
Money will be collected over the next week by the school, so that emergency aid can be provided to those affected by the floods.
Teacher Mrs Beth Easton said: “What the children are doing is really quite meaningful.”
