Queen honours duo in birthday list

The chairman of Experian, the Standard Chartered Bank and High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Mr John Peace has been knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honour's List.

Mr Peace, of Manor Road, Caunton, has been knighted for services to business and to the voluntary sector.

Nottinghamshire’s Deputy Chief Constable has been included in the list - published Saturday - too.

DCC Chris Eyre, who joined the force in July 2010, is to received the Queen’s Police Medal, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

Prior to his arrival in Nottinghamshire, Mr Eyre had been Temporary Chief Constable at Leicestershire Police, where he also served as both Deputy Chief Constable and Assistant Chief Constable (Crime).

Mr Eyre’s responsibilities in Nottinghamshire include force performance and development, legal services, professional standards and corporate communications.

Among his responsibilities for the Association of Chief Police Officers is as national lead on the issues of migration and migration crime.

Mr Eyre said: “I am absolutely thrilled and more than a little humbled.

“The enormous strides being made to transform policing in Nottinghamshire are the result of some very talented and committed people working extremely hard. It is thanks, in no small part, to their efforts that I have been given this award.”

Chief Constable Julia Hodson said: “He has worked tirelessly to help Nottinghamshire on our ambitious path to be the safest force in the country.”
