Quids 4 Kids Festival for Children's Bereavement Centre to return after success this year

Plans are already been made for Children's Bereavement Centre's Quids For Kids Fest to return next year, even bigger and better.

It will again take place at Kelham Hall on the confirmed date Sunday, July 16, 2023.

Many families attended the recent free event, organised by the Newark-based charity.

The final numbers of money raised by the charity aren’t yet official, however, the children’s sponsored walk has collectively raised around £1,800.

Rachel Wilson, fundraising manager, said: “It was such a perfect venue to host our first Quids 4 Kids event, the grounds are Kelham are beautiful, it was brilliant that we had such a big space to use for our stage, inflatables and local food and drink suppliers.

“The woodland trail provided children with a scenic sponsored walk, strolling through tree tunnels and down by the River Trent. We organised a jubilee themed trail quiz, families spotted pictures and letters hidden in the trees to find the answer to a 2022 event — platinum jubilee.”

A number of local organisations were involved, including Reno Ice cream van, Blackbird coffee, Super Sparkle Parties and Newark Fire Service.

The festival’s stage was hosted by Matt Colbourne, Paul Walker and his Sensation Roadshow, which provided the sound for children’s disco and games.

The local musician Clive Rudd, played Fifties, Sixties and Seventies songs, entertaining not only the children but their parents.

“The temperatures in the afternoon reached 30 degrees which meant the event organically ended a little bit earlier, but we are really happy with how it went. Roll on next year!” said Rachel.

The charity would like to thank the 15 volunteers who played a vital role, helping to set up, steward and close the successful event.

For next year’s edition the charity is appealing to children’s entertainers, performers, band or musicians who want to get involved with the Quids 4 Kids festival to get in touch with the Fundraising team on katiegibson@childrensbereavementcentre.co.uk .
