Police have today appealed for information about the theft of three racing car engines worth more than £35,000 which were stolen from a workshop near Sutton-on-Trent.

The engines were stolen at 8.15am on June 20 from Newark Engines, Great North Road, while the owner and a mechanic worked on a vehicle in a rear yard.

Pc Tony Hayes said the engines had been on pallets in the entrance area to the garage. The door was closed but unlocked.

The engines are for Lotus racing cars and can not be used for any other purpose.
