East Midlands Railway services delayed after person hit by train between Newark Castle and Lincoln




Trains are delayed after a person was hit by a train earlier this morning.

The incident occurred between Newark Castle and Lincoln stations, on East Midlands Railway’s Leicester/ Lincoln/ Grimsby, Peterborough/ Lincoln/ Doncaster and Newark North Gate/ Lincoln routes.

At 7.21am, the operator posted an update stating: “We are sad to report a person has been hit by a train between Lincoln and Newark Castle. Trains cannot run between Lincoln and Newark Castle. The Emergency Services are en-route to manage the incident.”

EMR services were disrupted and rail replacement buses run from around 8am today (July 23), with the operator now reporting it is “working to resume our normal timetable” after the lines were reopened.

Affected stops included Newark Castle, Collingham, Swinderby, Hykeham and Lincoln.

On its website EMR stated: “Your journey may still be delayed by 90 minutes this morning whilst we work to reinstate our train service.”

Normal service is expected to resume by 11am.
