Newark Ramblers name Brian Aldrich as star walker, after he racked up 600 miles in a year

A Rambler who racked up more than 600 miles of walking this year has been named star walker.

Brian Aldrich was recently awarded the accolade by Newark Ramblers.

The 77-year-old has been walking with the Ramblers for more than 40 years, having joined in 1981.

He joined after meeting his wife, Christine, at Ransome and Marles, as Christine was already a keen walker.

The pair have together walked the hills and dales of Britain and overseas ever since — and Brian still likes to tackle the Derbyshire Peaks.
