Recommendation made for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service's new assistant chief fire officer
Candidates for the assistant chief fire officer role have been considered by a committee, and a recommendation put forward.
The Appointments Committee of the Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire Authority met on Wednesday to consider candidates for the permanent assistant chief fire officer vacancy.
The committee agreed that area manager Damien West should be appointed to the position.
Damien started his career as an on-call firefighter with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service in 2006 and joined Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service as a station manager in 2014.
He is the current head of ICT, corporate support, and equality, diversity and inclusion at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The recommendation will be considered at the next Combined Fire Authority meeting on Friday, February 24.
Assistant chief fire officers have responsibility for corporate support within the service, which includes ICT, corporate communications, performance and planning, and corporate administration.
