Householders gearing up for some spring cleaning and gardening are being urged to make use of Nottinghamshire’s recycling centres.

The centres, run by the county council’s waste contractors, Veolia, are open from 8am until 6pm daily until March 31.

From April to September they open from 8am to 8pm.

Residents are reminded they need to be registered to use the centres, including those on Brunel Drive, Newark; Brailwood Road, Bilsthorpe; and Hollinwood Lane, Calverton.

To register visit the Nottinghamshire County Council website or call 0300 500 80 80.

Mr Neil Sunderland, assistant logistics manager at Veolia, said: “When visiting your local recycling centre don’t forget to pre-sort your waste into recyclable types before leaving home to make sure you have a quick and easy visit.”

Centres accept a wide range of household waste for recycling, including textiles, glass bottles and jars, wood, scrap metal, batteries, garden waste, electrical appliances and even engine oil and cooking oil.

On average, 80% of the waste received is recycled.
