Nottinghamshire Police is people not to ring its non-emergency number, 101, to inquire about the Olympic Torch Relay route.

The 101 number is for non-emergency calls, but should only be used by members of the public who want to report incidents and information about crime in Nottinghamshire.

Lincolnshire Police has today reported a large number of calls about the route being made to its control room on the 101 number, which is now used by all police forces.

Any call asking for details about the Relay route through Nottinghamshire may delay important information that needs to be given to the police, says the force.

If anyone is unable to go online and get information about the Torch Relay in their area, they should telephone either their local district council, Nottinghamshire County Council on 08449 808080 or Nottingham Tourism Centre on 08444 775678.
