Remand in custody for murder accused
Two people charged with the murder of Newark teenager Nathan Somers, 19, have been remanded in custody at Nottingham Magistrates' Court today.
Reuben Edwards, aged 18, of Gardendale Avenue, Clifton, and a 16-year-old boy from a Newark area village, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, will appear before Nottingham Crown Court tomorrow where a judge will hear applications for bail.
A plea and case management hearing has been listed for September 18 at the crown court.
Three other men, one aged 27 and two aged 18, and a 17-year-old boy, also arrested following the discovery of Mr Somers’ body on a path in Beacon Hill Conservation Park, in Beacon Hill Road, on Friday night have been bailed pending further enquiries.
A Home Office post-mortem examination found that Nathan died of a stab wound.
