Search continues for Jingles the cat missing from his Balderton home, as owners Aiden Aslin and Diana Okovyta have to leave him behind to rebuild lives in Ukraine

Jingles the cat has failed to return to his owners Diana Okovyta and Aiden Aslin before their return to Ukraine, but they still hope to be reunited.

A renewed plea for the public to keep an eye out for the grey and white cat has been issued, with recent sightings of a cat which may be him reported around Balderton Lake and Wolfit Avenue, Balderton.

He was also previously seen around Main Street.

Jingles was last seen at his home in the Wolfit Avenue area of Balderton, at 11pm on July 17, and was due to travel with Aiden and his fiancee Diana back to their home in Ukraine on Monday as they rebuild their lives.

He was rescued from the Donbas frontline by British-born Ukrainian Army soldier Aiden as a kitten and raised among soldiers before finding a home with Diana, who refused to leave him behind when she came to the UK as a refugee to live with Aiden’s family.

Having to leave the UK without him was her “biggest fear” come true, Diana posted on Facebook.

She added: “It's a hard decision to make, but we've got plenty of things which need sorting out at home so we are leaving the country without Jingles. I still hope we will be reunited but it won't be an easy thing to do.

“He is very loved and means the world to us. So please, contact me if you see him and l will find a way to take him where he belongs. We raised him since he was a kitten, took care of him under shelling and evacuated him from a warzone to a safe place. Leaving him behind has never been an option. He's a family member and he should be with his family.”

The pair are still hoping to be reunited, but have had to leave Jingles behind to travel to Ukraine.

Diana’s British phone number, as listed on Jingles’ tag, will no longer work.

Jingles is very friendly with strangers and can be approached, however people are asked not feed him. He is microchipped and wears a blue collar.
