Residents inspire youth at Lancaster Grange Care Home, Fernwood, annual harvest festival
A care home brought the community together at its annual harvest festival.
Residents at Lancaster Grange Care Home were joined by children from Fernwood Day Nursery to pass on donation baskets to Newark Foodbank.
Jenny Harding, from the foodbank, was on hand to educate the residents and children on where the food would go.
Charlotte Widdison, head of activities, said: “We sang hymns, shared stories and listened to the children sing.”
She said the residents from the home donated home-grown tomatoes and chillies from their greenhouse, which was donated by Bakkavor earlier in the year.
“It meant a lot to us all and we were all very proud of our donations,” said Charlotte.
“We will continue to donate to the food banks every year as our residents really enjoy helping our local community.”
