McDonald's reopening in Newark sees queues as expected
Drivers are queuing past the Premier Inn after McDonald's opened its drive-thru today.
The Newark branch was part of the final phase of reopenings as a further 261 drive-thrus opened across the country.
This picture (above) was taken at roughly 1pm, and some drivers were spotted making a U-turn after seeing the queue.
The store said it was glad to be back and outlined some changes that would affect service.
In a statement McDonald's said: "We have fewer employees in our kitchens to enable our teams to social distance and work safely.
"We will have a limited menu (no breakfast or shakes for now) and will open for reduced hours (11am-10pm).
"We encourage you to use contactless payment methods and cap your spend at £25
"For those visiting our Drive Thrus, you can browse the menu, order and pay ahead using the My McDonald’s App - we’ll start preparing your order when you’re near the restaurant."
