North and South Clifton residents set to get improved village hall thanks to £24,000 FCC Communities Foundation grant

Residents of North and South Clifton and the surrounding villages are set to get a much-improved village hall, thanks to a £24,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The money will be used to buy new movable staging, chairs, tables, and a fully-equipped kitchen for Coronation Hall in South Clifton.

Grant Dickson, chairman of the hall committee, believes the improved facilities will make a huge difference to those living in the area.

He said: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of South Clifton and the surrounding villages. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we are really looking forward to our village hall taking shape over the next few months.”

Mr Dickson hopes Coronation Hall will be ready to use by the time covid restrictions are due to be fully lifted in June.

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that gives grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Cheryl Raynor, FCC community foundations local grant manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the further development of this much-loved facility.

“The committee of volunteers have worked hard to breathe new life into the hall, and I am pleased we can help them complete the work for the benefit of the local community.”
