Newark residents warn others over bank scam call
People in Newark have been receiving phone calls on bank scams from a Newark number.
A number, starting in 01636, described to be a robotic automated voice, has contacted residents pretending to be from a bank and asking for people’s bank details.
David Kerby said: “Before I heard anything else they were saying I put the phone down.
“I don’t deal with any of my banks through the phone so I knew straight away that it was a scam.
“I think this is very dangerous and that people should know of it.”
Other residents have reported receiving calls over bank details from a number with Newark’s indicator in which they were asked for their bank details.
