M&S shines a light on British suppliers

During challenging periods for the agricultural community, M&S is continuing to reinforce its commitment to British farming.

One of the 10,000 British suppliers it is shining a spotlight on this season is Cropwell Bishop-based cheese maker, Cropwell Bishop Creamery, with which it has worked since the 1960s.

Cropwell Bishop Creamery is run by the Skailes family, who have been making and selling cheese for more than 160 years.

They expect to provide M&S with around 200,000 blocks of Organic Cropwell Bishop Stilton this year.

Robin Skailes, head cheese maker and director, said: “All farmers and producers have needed to adapt to ensure we can continue to supply the nation. We have been working closely with M&S to make sure customers will be able to enjoy our Organic Cropwell Bishop Stilton throughout the year.”

Chris Dawson, cheese buyer at M&S, said: “Our family of 10,000 British farmers and producers enable us to deliver fantastic quality for our customers, especially throughout these last few challenging months, and they continue to do so as we move forward together.

“We are committed to supporting our suppliers and Cropwell Bishop Creamery is a fantastic example of a family-run business helping to provide the nation with fantastic quality cheese.”
