A Strictly Come Dancing winner is ‘on the run’ for charity — and any potential sightings could lead to a £500 prize for members of the public.

Jay McGuiness and his former The Wanted bandmate Siva Kaneswaran are taking part in the Hunted show, in which people attempt to disappear for a fortnight.

The duo will be successful if they reach Sunday without being spotted, but a ‘lead investigator’ named The Chief is offering a cash reward to anyone who provides information which may lead to their ‘capture’.

The show will be broadcast in the autumn as part of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer series.

Speaking from an undisclosed location, The Chief said Jay — who was raised in Farndon — may have returned to the area.

“Jay has very strong family contacts in and around the area of Newark,” he said.

“As in the real world, fugitives often gravitate towards areas they know best, supported by members of their family and friends.

“This may be exactly what they are doing.

“I would like to reach out to the lovely people of Newark and Nottinghamshire. If they see this pair, please do give us a call.

“Given that they have been on the run for quite a while now, and time is ticking, I could probably stretch to a reward of £500.

“We have already had members of the public calling with information, but nothing so far that has led to the ‘capture’ of Jay and Siva.”

Jamie Laing and Spencer Matthews, from the Made In Chelsea television series, are also taking part.

Jay McGuiness, 26, first rose to fame as part of the five-piece boyband The Wanted, which formed in 2009.

The band announced a break in 2014. Since then, Jay has wowed television audiences with his performances on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Performing with dance partner Aliona Vilani, he triumphed in the 2015 series.

He has since appeared in the musical Big and is due to star in a new touring 1950s themed dance show, Rip It Up, with Natalie Lowe and another former Strictly star, Louis Smith.
