Reward offered for cash machine theft
A reward is being offered for information about the theft of a cash machine from a high street bank.
LINK, the UK ATM scheme, is offering up to £25,000 leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in stealing the cash machine by using a tractor.
It happened around 2.40am on Monday 6 February, at the NatWest bank in Market Place, Bingham.
The thieves used the tractor, which had been stolen from Cropwell Butler, to crash into the wall of the bank before stealing the entire cash machine, containing a quantity of money.
It was discovered at a farm building in Kegworth, Leicestershire, later that morning, having been broken into and the cash stolen.
A blue Land Rover Defender with an open back, stolen from Lincolnshire, and a large open-sided trailer with a caged rear, stolen from Lowdham, were also left at the farm building.
It is believed that the Land Rover and trailer may have been driven through a number of rural villages between Bingham and Kegworth, including Cotgrave, Wysall, Bunny and East Leake.
Detective Sergeant Steve Wragg, said: “The offenders stole at least two vehicles in the lead up to stealing the cash machine, in what was clearly a well planned attack on the bank.
“They had no regard for the amount of destruction left behind, and then drove the vehicles away before abandoning them in Kegworth.
“I hope the reward is an incentive for someone to come forward with information and tell us who is responsible for this theft. It caused a lot of disruption to local people, and left the building with a lot of damage.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
