A road in Newark has been reopened after a 'major' gas leak forced it to shut.
Emergency services were called to the incident on Hawton Lane at around 3pm on Thursday.
Police shut the road both ways and firefighters from Newark and Collingham dealt with the incident while Cadent gas engineers got to the scene.
The fire service warned local residents to keep their windows and doors closed, with many having reported strong smells of gas.
Fire crews left at around 8pm and engineers remained to continue fixing the leak.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for comment to confirm if the leak has now been fixed.
