Roadsweeping lorry that crashed into a cottage is finally removed




A roadsweeper that collided with a cottage on the A616 in Ompton has finally been removed, leaving a gaping hole in the building's frontage.

The sweeper had been embedded in the cottage from around 11.10pm on Friday September 14 until yesterday (September 26).

The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year old man, suffered serious injuries. There was no-one in at the property at the time.

The road was closed for several hours on the day of the crash for collision investigations.

The vehicle could not be removed until it was deemed that the property was structually sound and the removal was complex.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the incident is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 1039 of September 14 2018.
