Role is to raise money
A new fundraising and marketing manager has been appointed for Beaumond House Community Hospice, Newark.
Charley Price, 28, recently moved to Newark to be nearer her family after living in London for several years.
She grew up in Orston and was a pupil at Toot Hill School, Bingham.
When she left she worked as a legal secretary and then joined Macmillan Cancer Support East Midlands’ fundraising team in Nottingham as an assistant.
She said she realised there were many aspects of fundraising and opportunities available and decided to pursue a career in the charity sector.
She moved to London in 2005 and worked for Macmillan as PA to the area fundraising managers for London and the South East.
She was given a three-month secondment as regional event co-ordinator working predominantly on Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
She then moved to become event co-ordinator at Maggie’s Centres managing a portfolio of events including the London Marathon, Great North Run, overseas treks, carol concerts and an autumn party at Claridge’s.
She also project-managed aspects of their flagship event, the London Night Hike, which involves 2,000 people on a 20-mile night-time walk around the capital.
She said she was excited to be joining Beaumond House and looking forward to working for a smaller, personal charity.
She said: “There is a fantastic portfolio of events that the fundraising team put on each year and I am keen to look at how we can expand and grow them to ensure they keep appealing to our supporters.”
Her first event will be the Forget Me Not Sleepwalk at Newark Showground on October 20.
