The new High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire is due to be installed at a ceremony in St Swithin's Church, Kirklington, today.

The appointment of Mrs Amanda Farr, 47, of Kirklington, was approved by the Queen at a traditional ceremony at a meeting of the Privy Council last month.

Mrs Farr has appointed Mr Richard Bullock, a solicitor and partner in the regional firm of Freeth Cartwright LLP, as her Under Sheriff for the year and the Rev Rupert Mackay as her chaplain.

Mrs Farr said: "I regard this appointment as a great honour for me and my family and I look forward to being involved in all aspects of the life and work of the people of Nottinghamshire.

"I particularly intend to support the many voluntary and statutory organisations across the county, and will be taking special interest in the work and users of mental health projects."
