Collingham salon celebrates refurbishment with grand opening
A village salon has celebrated its refurbishment with a grand opening for the community.
On Monday, March 28, the Collingham beauty salon, Hayley Jayne, re-opened its doors to customers and celebrated the new salon reveal with goody bags and cupcakes.
The salon was based in one of three units in the High Street building, but now operates throughout the entire building following months of renovation.
Owner of the salon, Hayley Housham, of Gainsborough, said: "I feel relieved and really excited, but also a bit nostalgic as it has gone from being just me and now its the next chapter."
Hayley was a make up rep that initially sold products to the business, but then decided to take over the salon as something to do part time around her family life.
She said: "I just intended to run it part time around my husbands shifts and then it just grew quite quickly."
The renovation process begun during the pandemic, as Hayley was hoping to expand the business for a while and Covid gave her the opportunity to do so.
Hayley added: "We needed more space and I was forever looking for more space but in the village.
"I wanted to modernise it but make it suitable for the area and make it feel like a retreat
"We're going to be offering more packages and more availability, and just the standard that we can offer will be more luxurious."
The refurbishment has allowed Hayley and her team to adapt different parts of the salon for different services and have rooms for dedicates services, such as massages, rather than having all the services between the two original rooms.
In addition to working at the salon, Hayley is also active in the Collingham Business Club and is "passionate about business communities in rural areas."
Hayley said: "Just over 2,000 salons closed down in the country because of Covid and we wanted to come back stronger."
She continued: "This is the year now I think for small businesses, we have more support than what we have ever had from the general public, especially in the rural areas.
"We need small businesses now more than ever."
