The Salvation Army Toy Run will take place on December 1

You can spot Santa Clauses riding motorbikes as part of an annual charity drive.

The annual Southwell Toy Run will take place on Sunday December 1 and all are invited to come along and make a donation to bring joy to needy children in the area.

Now in its tenth year, the Salvation Army Toy Run has grown from its humble beginnings and now attracts more than 100 motorcycle and scooter riders.

Presents are donated to the Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal, and Army volunteers sort and wrap them to pass on to children and families in need after consulting with social services and Barbados and similar groups trying to help.

The procession begins in Church Street and heads through Upton and Kelham before heading down Ossington Way and along London Road arriving in Salavation Army's base on Mead Way in Balderton.

All the vehicles and their riders will be taking part in the ride wearing fancy dress.

Spokesman John F Judson said: "I encourage any member of the public, even those who haven't got motorised two wheels, to bring along a gift on the morning of the run. Those taking part will be more than happy to take these extra gifts along.

"Last year we filled a car and a yellow Reliant 3 wheeler with your donations.

"So come and have a look ; bring the kids; or give us a wave en route."
