World Book Day at Leadenham Church of England Primary Academy
A school celebrated World Book Day in style as both staff and pupils donned amazing costumes and took part in various reading-related activities.
Leadenham Church of England Primary Academy was transformed into a literary wonderland as children dressed up as their favourite book characters, including Harry Potter, Matilda, and Willy Wonka. Teachers also got in on the act, with many wearing costumes of their own.
Throughout the day, pupils took part in a range of activities to promote reading and literacy, including storytime sessions, book-themed quizzes, and book cover designing.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the costume competition, with prizes awarded to the best-dressed pupils. The creativity and effort that went into the costumes was truly impressive, with many students going above and beyond to embody their chosen characters.
To cap off the day, the school held a cake sale to raise funds for new books for the school library. The event was a huge success, with both pupils and staff enjoying delicious treats while supporting a great cause.
The school's headteacher, Mr Nicholson, was thrilled with the enthusiasm shown by both pupils and staff.
He said: "World Book Day is always a special day for us, and this year was no exception.
“The costumes were fantastic, and it was great to see so many children getting excited about reading and literacy. We're also thrilled to have raised funds for new books for our library, which will benefit our pupils for years to come."
