Holy Trinity Church of England Infant School, Southwell, searching for its oldest living ex-pupil to help celebrate 175 years of its existence
A school is searching for its oldest living ex-pupil to help celebrate 175 years of its existence.
Holy Trinity Church of England Infant School, Southwell, is celebrating its 175th birthday this year.
Pupils and staff are launching a quest to find the oldest surviving pupil of their school and would love to hear from ex–pupils and staff to capture some of their memories for its ‘History of Holy Trinity’ exhibition that the children are working on.
Headteacher Marie Thompson said: “We would also love to receive copies of any old photos of the school.
“As part of the celebrations our topic for the summer term is Victorians, and the whole school will be recreating a Victorian school day, dressing in period costume, singing songs, completed morning drill, and learning playground games from the era. We are restoring the school’s original wash house to its former glory and so much more.”
As part of the celebrations, the school will be holding an open event on Friday, July 14.
“We would love to invite past pupils and staff in to see the school and to join us for a cream tea at Holy Trinity Church rom 2pm onwards.
“At 5pm-7pm we will be holding a birthday fair, with stalls and games, bouncy castle, barbecue and a range of refreshments that is open to the local community.
“To mark this special time the school want to raise money to further develop its nature garden, but our main fundraising challenge will be to support the development of a borehole at a Ugandan school we have linked with, to support with the provision of fresh, clean water to their large school community.
“We will be undertaking a number of fundraising activities to raise £3,000 for the borehole over the coming months.”
