Campaigners hoping to secure a rebuild of The Grove School, Balderton, are set to meet with the MP for Newark, Mr Patrick Mercer.

The campaign group, made up of parents and supporters of the school, are continuing to lobby the Government over their decision to scrap the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

As part of the programme, the Grove and Newark Orchard schools were due to be rebuilt on a shared site on London Road, Balderton.

The Magnus Church of England School, Newark, was due to be partly rebuilt and refurbished.

Mr Mercer has been vocal in his support for all three schools and has requested a visit to Newark by a Government education minister over their future. A date is yet to be confirmed.

Mrs Pamela Durney, a member of the group that will meet with Mr Mercer later this month, said they also planned to lobby senior figures at Nottinghamshire County Council.

The group want people to show support for their campaign by writing to key figures at Westminster and in local government calling for a rebuild of the Grove and other secondary schools in the area.

MPs to write to about the BSF cuts (all addressed to House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA): Mr David Cameron, Prime Minister; Mr Nick Clegg, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education; Mr Nick Gibb, Minster of State for Schools; Sarah Teather, Minister of State for Children and Families; Mr John Hayes, Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning; Mr Graham Stuart, chairman of the Education Committee.

People can also write to Nottinghamshire County Council Education Department, County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7QP.
